Trip to Carmel, California

My wife and I will be taking a trip next week to Carmel (25th anniversary). We have been looking at staying either at the Highlands Inn (Park Hyatt) or at the Tickle Pink Inn. Any recommendations between those two, or any other suggestions for other hotels in the region? Thanks.

Hi jmaddhill,

Just returned from Carmel last month, my husband & I celebrated our 20th anniversary.... stayed at the Tickle Pink Inn & loved every minute there.
(click on my screen name to read our trip report - 20th anniv.)

I didn't see any of the rooms at Highlands from the interior, but there are very few that are unobstructed ocean view.

TP was beyond our expectations! Great choice for a central coast location for exploring the area.

Have a great time!!!! Congratulations!!

We have stayed at the Highland's Inn for our past two anniversaries. It is very elegant and you will be truly pampered. We had a spa suite with oceanview and a full breakfast at the California Market each morning. From the moment you pull up to the valet parking at the Highland's you are treated like roylaty. The rooms are very spacious, almost like an apartment with woodburining fireplaces and luxurious bedding. We dined at the Pacific Edge for dinner. You will not be disappointed. ***kim***

Kimamom,

I'd love to hear more about your spa suite w/ the oceanview... what was the room like... where was it located on the property? I haven't heard any feedback about this propery, and I'd love to hear about it!

Muchos mahalos!

The rooms are huge!! The first time we were upgraded to a full oceanview room. There is a small kitchen in each room fully equipped with dishwasher, dishes, etc. There is a living room with a fireplace and then the bed/spa area. The hotel has a website you could go to check out the interior of the rooms. But the whole property is very impressive. We were just invited to attend a 90 minute presentation and receive 3 nights at$ 79/night. We may take advantage of this offer!! It also comes with spending money to use at the gift shop there or at the restaurants which are excellent. I have requested rooms in the 400 section for our past two stays there. ***kim***
