Any opinion on Spindrift Inn in Monterrey?

This property looks fairly nice on its website. Is anyone familiar with it?

Yes, we stayed there a couple of years ago. We had a King corner room that went for $400. They used to be in the Entertainment Book and we got the room for $200/night.

Very nice canopy, featherbed, hardwood floors, fireplace, breakfast to the room in a picnic basket, nice bathrooms with marble countertops, etc.

There was a window seat that was nice for reading. The property is right in Cannery Row, so you could walk to all the fun places. Any other specific questions? ***kim***

Were you in the room that's shown on their website with the corner window looking over the ocean? It looks great on the website. Are there any other properties in the area that you would recommend over this one?

Yes, that was the room we had! I much prefer the Monterey Plaza & Spa to the Spindrift.

I could give you specifics about that place, also. ***kim***

Yes, please be specific about what you like better about each place. I've only driven through the area -- and that was 30 years ago! This is an anniversary trip (30th), which I mentioned in another thread to which you responded.

Also, how would you compare Monterey to Carmel, in terms of views, walking to shops, restaurants, etc.?

We have stayed at the Spindrift a couple of times and have enjoyed our stays. Very convenient location for sight seeing.
