Help - San Francisco restaurant recommendation

We will be staying at the Galleria Park Hotel for two nights next month. We do have restaurant reservations for our second night at Zare'. Does anyone have any recommendations for a restuarant within walking distance of this hotel? We enjoy lively, Italian, California cusine, etc.
Thank you for your help!

I don't really know where you hotel is, but I highly recommend Pane e Vino at 3011 Steiner (& Union) (phone # 415-346-2111). The chef/owner is from Venice, grows all his herbs and salad fixings in the garden outside, and the food is delicious and very reasonably priced.

Trish-

A fabulous restaurant is called the FIFTH FLOOR-- the chef was the former chef from AQUA ( the best fancy gourmet seafood rest.in SFO)...Fifth Floor is on the 5th floor of the Palomar Hotel:

FIFTH FLOOR
Palomar Hotel, 12 4th St., San Francisco, CA, USA
Phone: 415/348-1555

TO die for decor and super private if you are with someone special....Awesome food- reservations a must!!~

Enjoy!!

I prefer Elizabeth-Daniel to Fifth Floor. But check Chowhound - Bay Area web site. Ask and you will get a multitude of replies.

I don't know your hotel, but if you love Italian go to the Trattoria Contadina on the corner of Union and Mason.
Reservations are a must, unless you want to wait an hour plus.
I go there every time I'm in the city and have tried most everything on the menu. It's fabulous, and surprisingly not expensive.
MMMmmm

Take a look at chowhound.com . Very active SF board. Post your query there--I'm sure you'll get loads of answers.
