Help me pick a Charleston hotel

My mom, 8 mo old and I are taking a quick, budget trip to Charleston in October. Our hotel choices are as follows:
Best Western King Charles Inn
Holiday Inn Charleston Riverview
Days Inn Charleston Historic District
La Quinta Inn Riverview
Comfort Inn Riverview

Does anyone have any comments one way or another on these hotels?

With your hotel options I would recommend Days Inn because of the historic district location. During the summer when it is the off season there are lower rates but that probably will not be the case in October. Sometimes King's Courtyard Inn runs specials--it is on King St. If you like seafood try Hyman's for lunch--very good food for a reasonable price. Enjoy your trip.

Skip the Riverview hotels as they are not centrally located. With your mom and an 8 month old, you'll want centrally located easy access to your room.

The Days Inn and King Charles have the best location and the King Charles is much nicer than the Days Inn.

What about a townhouse room at The Andrew Pinckney? That way you and your mom would not have to go to sleep when the baby goes to sleep. They are probably cheaper than either the Days Inn or King Charles and also a fantastic central location.

I checked the Andrew Pickney and it is outside our budget solely because those listed here offer great package deals with flights from Chicago on Travelocity. Flights direct from Chicago are outrageous but for some reason the packages make them much more reasonable.

Days Inn - you won't have to find parking. Also, check out the Ansonborough Inn

Definitely the King Charles Inn. You'd never know it was a Best Western. It is a very nice hotel and has a great pool. Bring your bathing suits. October is perfect pool weather.

SOunds like the King Charles it is. Next question...Do we need a rental car to see the sights. I saw there is a garden festival at Middleton Place while we're going to be there. How is that?

If you stay at the BW King Charles Inn make sure you request a room away from the elevator. We stayed there last year and were happy with the great location, nice pool and free parking. We asked to change rooms after the first night due to elevator noise and the staff could not have been more accomodating. Have a great trip!

You will need a rental to go to Middleton Place. Parking is free at the King Charles.

For a couple who sleeps together which room would you recommend at King Charles Inn? They have available for our dates in mid-November

Deluxe Double $89.00
Deluxe King $99.00
King with balcony $109

Do you know whether they have at least a small refrigerator in each room?
Their website says free off street parking. Does it mean you have to drive around until you find a space or do they have asigned spaces?
What do they serve for breakfast? Thank you for a tip to ask for a room away from the elevator.

Nkd, our room at the BW King Charles did not have a refrigerator. There is parking in a underground garage. I have no idea about what they serve for breakfast.

If you're looking for information on the Garden Festival, go to either www.charlestongardenfestival.org/ or www.middletonplace.org/.
