Help!!! I can't logon to Fodors with Treo smartphone & PCS Vision
Although I have cookies enabled, when I try to logon to Fodors from my coolest Christmas present, a Treo
650 smartphone with PCSVision, I receive a nasty message:
"You are unable to login because your browser is not accepting cookies."
Web Browser is PalmOne Blazer v4.0. I have checked the Internet settings and have cookies and javascript enabled. Memory limit for storing pages is set to 1 MB. I also cleared the cookies and cache then tried again and still had no success.
Does anyone know how to login to Fodor's with this device? It would be oh so cool!
I'm sure hoping someone in the supersmart Fodor's world will have answers.

Hi luvpenguins... The provider is Sprint. I posted this question here at Fodor's and am also searching the web for an answer to this problem.
My husband brought me out of the dark ages for Christmas. My old Palm m100 has been on it's last legs after many years of service. I've never had a cell phone and now... I am quickly learning I have one of the latest tech devices available.
I posted to Fodors... although not a travel question necessarily, it is about Fodor's access and my ability to post travel related stuff. Plus I am just thinking how cool it is to have a phone with organizer and internet all wrapped up into one cool gadget to do travel research and use while traveling.

The device you have is very cool. I dont know too much about since I work for a competitor (wink) but I can tell you the error you are getting is mostly either from the account not provisioned right in their system or the cookies are not turned on (the device). I will look to see if it is like a Treo 600, if so I should be able to get you answer. Or you could call Sprint not to sure how helpful their tech department is. I will look though and tell you what I find out.

Ok. I've now done a hotsync followed by a hard reset and another hotsync.
Still rec'd same message. I have installed no software to this device other that what it came with.
I just now attemped to logon to Fodors with the Treo 650, same message. Went to clear cookies, and cache. Also increased memory limit for storing pages from 1MB to 2MB.
After attempting to logon to Fodors where I receive same "unable to logon" message, I checked and now cookies contained 771B and cache was 133K.
Any ideas? Also still searching the web.

luvpenguins... thanks for the assistance. If I crack this maybe someone else will find the answer. I can't tell you how cool this toy is. I never would have made this purchase, but already I don't know how I lived without it.
Just imagine being able to access Fodor's and answering and reading travel bits while sitting in a doctor's office, or anyplace I want to. So cool. I can read and search, I just can't logon ... so I can't post to Fodor's from my new device and I really want to have that option.

SharonNRayMc,
I have looked for info and you have done everything that you can do. It may be possible that the Treo does not like the site's cookies. I tried it out on our test Treo 600 and after a fashion all I got was 'Page can not be displayed' I made sure I could go to other sites (yahoo and such)So I would have to say it is the site. I could be wrong I will keep trying.

Thanks luvpenguins, I am beginning to suspect the Fodor's problem may have something to do with password cookies. Not sure. Do you know of another site that might use password cookies? I'm not sure what other sites might use password cookies. I can log into Yahoo's e-mail and earthlink's webmail.
I have also discovered through lots and lots of reading that the Treo 650 doesn't work with Gmail.
Oh what fun.

SharonNRayMc,
Yeah I think that is because Gmail is not a POP or Imap type of email. After much cursing and stuff I was able to get to the site but once I logged in I could not open the forums so again it must be site related. I know that our company's site uses PW cookies. Hmmm you could try something such as like you financial institution site. Some Treos will browse to secure sites. Or like Orbitz has a cookie PW. The PDA devices are great still some limitations though

luvpenguins, Thank you again for your efforts. If there is a way to logon to Fodor's forums and post from my new toy, I'll crack this problem. If you have any other suggestions, let me know.
And to the rest of the Fodorite world...any ideas?
-Thank you,
Sharon
