Help! First time to Chicago!
I'll be flying into Midway airport and wonder what is the best way to get to the city. I've never been to Chicago before and have no idea how the city is laid out. Is it best to take a cab into the city? If so how much should it cost? How long will it take from Midway? I'll be staying somewhere downtown.

You can take the el from Midway. Its on the orange line. Go to this site and hit train schedule.

EL will take you into the loop. Some hotels will be near the el stations, but you may have to finish up with a cab ride for a few bucks.

The last time I went downtown from Midway, I used a company called Airport Express. They were $12 one way, $22 round trip, per person, using small buses.
It has been a while, so the price may have changed. I don;t recall the length of time, but service was good.

If it's your first time in the city--I would take a cab downtown. The orange line is not the greatest line to sit on for 40 minutes and if you're riding around the time the rowdy kids get out of school it can be more trouble then it's worth. Where are you staying downtown? It never cost me more then 20 bucks to the loop area. Stop by the Cultural Center on Randolph & Michigan to pick up maps & things. The city is very easy to get around and is laid out very well.
