Help! Broadway Singing Restaurant

Hi
I'm desperate to find details of a restaurant in Broadway we visited in August 2003. The waiters and waitresses were young people from a school of music or theatre and during the meal they would perform songs from musicals. They were so brilliant the food tasted so much better! Hopefully it's still going as a friend is leaving soon for New York City and wants to visit this place if at all possible.
Many Thanks

Sounds like Eileen's Stardust Diner. Located at 51st and Broadway. Don't know about them being from a music school, my impression is that they were all aspiring performers, not necessarily students.

Not sure if this is the place but I once went to a Piano bar called Don't tell Mama. They had broadway performers singing show tunes.

I don't know if it's the place you mean, but the previously mentioned site is Ellen's, not Eileen's.

Ellen's Stardust Diner has singing waitstaff. They're not from any school- but just aspiring broadway performers - of which thre are thousands in NYC - many of whom make a living as waitstaff/bartenders - since it usually allows them to audition during the day, and they can always pick up jobs between show jobs.

There used to be a great place downtown called Asti's with really talented singer/waiters -- both Broadway and opera.
But that's been closed a long time.

There was also a place just east of 8th Avenue on about 48th where I went to a Tony Awards show a couple years ago. They also had singing waiters and waitresses. But I believe that place has also closed and I can't even remember the name of it.

Ellen's is sure the only one I can think of these days.
