Help- Best route to yellowstone from SLC

Hi,
I'm leaving from SLC next week and will be heading towards Yellowstone's Lake hotel.
AAA trips tik takes me thru via rt 89 towards jackson then into the park via the south enterance.

Another site has me going up to West Yellowstone ID and in via west enterance.

Which is better/faster?

I'll be starting at 12pm. Any recommendations
on best route we be appreciated . I would like to avoid driving a night.

Go the Jackson route. I cannot recall the name of the canyon (maybe Black Canyon?) that the road goes through but it was one of the highlights of our trip (albeit a long time ago).

AND, you get to see the Tetons.

If you've never seen them (and even if you have many times) they are not to be missed. The word awesome is as close as I can come to describing them.

You won't see mountains like them in Yellowstone; it has other highlights.

I would also recommend seeing the Grand Tetons if you can. They are completely different than Yellowstone. I would go up I15 to Idaho Falls and then over on 26 thru Swan Valley and then up 89. I drove that route (Swan Valley) in June and found it a very scenic route.

Hi T,

There are several ways to go & they only vary a little in drive time.

I'll top some previous discussions for you. Try doing a search for Yellowstone, SLC, etc.
