We are looking at staying at this hotel. Any information would be helpful.

I used to stay at this hotel all the time in the 1980's - and I loved it. It was small, quiet and had a TON of hot water.

BUT -- I have heard bad things about it since then.

I will say that the NY Helmsley (which used to be called the Harley) used to be good too in the 80's and the last time I stayed there (about 4 years ago) it was SO BAD that I wrote to Leona and asked for all my money back - which I got!

It had not been touched in 20 years. Honestly - it had the same bedspreads.

So, I'd tread carefully on the Middletowne. How are the reviews now on tripadvisor.com?

The reviews all say it needs updating. We will only be there one night. The location to Grand Central is a lot of the reason for picking this hotel plus the cost is within our budget.

Just ask for an updated room. You might be pleasantly surprised! Have fun.
