We New YOrkers aren't really high tea type people…. in England high tea translates as "supper"
BUT.. for those who like the cakes and pastries, etc. I've never heard anyone complain about tea at the Plaza Hotel. Tho…. there have been so many changes there I'm not certain it's still offered.

Agree you want afternoon tea - little sandwiches and cakes with a choice of teas. Th eplaza does it very well - but you may want to check on the time and prices. There are also a number of smaller places that do it - such as Alice's Tea Cup or Sarabeths - both have several branches (check menupages.com for details).
"high tea" is British for "supper" or the evening meal among people who call the midday meal "dinner" instead of lunch.
