It's just shame that we can't get them into a church instead of them having to pay for lodging. Our church has put beds in the whole second floor, there are showers, kitchen, etc. Many volunteer crews have passed through there. But it is located on the Northshore. I know there must be churches in New Orleans proper that are housing folks, if only we knew which ones.

BED AND BREAKFASTS IN NEW ORLEANS

The Balcony Guest House, 2483 Royal Street, phone 800-395-2124, looks like it has 2 rooms for $79 - $89 each.

Auld's SweetOlive Bed & Breakfast
2460 N. Rampart St., (800) 395-2124, may have 2 rooms for $95 each.

The Burgundy Bed and Breakfast, 2513 Burgundy St, 800-970-2153, has 2 rooms for $90 each.

Lions Inn Bed and Breakfast, 2517 Chartres Street, 800-485-6846, has 1 room for $50, and 2 rooms for $89 each.

Some of the B & B rooms sleep 4--one large bed in a room, sofa sleeper in another room. Didn't know what kind of sleeping arrangements they would need, so didn't price or list any of that type room.

I hope this helps . . .if nothing else, it might offer a different option at a more convenient location.

FEMA supposedly is giving up rooms (some or all???) March 15, so check last minute deals, too. You just never know. Good luck with your plans!

It is the very least I can do for all the wonderful people who have given so generously and in so many ways to help the area I call home. God bless!
