Hawaiian vs. Aloha interisland flight - which is better?
Is there one that is better than the other? I am about to book my interisland tix, and don't know if there is a difference between the airlines. Do you have a preference and why?
Thanks!!
Thanks!!

"Dusty...I am looking at my roommate's itinerary for next week...On the flight from HNL to OGG, he clearly has pre-reserved seats on the Aloha Airlines flight."
Perhaps he/she is flying first class or another class that has reserved seats.
I was on a couple of interisland flights in October & they were not reserved seats.

This is how Aloha boards:
Zone 1 for Alii Diamond and Preboarding
Zone 2 for Alii Gold and Silver
Zones 3-5 (one line) for General boarding.
I was in the Zones 3-5 line. We boarded after Zone 1,2 passengers which probably are the ones with seat assignments.
Most of the passengers were in the Zones 3-5 line.
The only problem with the open seating is that if you are with others, you have to stand in line longer to ensure you can sit together.
But the flights are only 30 - 50 minutes long & this is no big deal unless you have kids that you want close by.
We also had the cheap $39 fares.

I just flew go! over Thanksgiving and I really liked it. You are in a less crowded terminal and the plane only has about 50 seats so again, no crowds.
The only minor drawbacks are that there are no jetways in Honolulu and the overhead space is very minimal. Also, no reserved seating.
I usually fly Hawaiian, but found go! to be very good. There is no real difference in service with the 3 large carriers.

It depends alot on the pilot but on a couple of flights once to Kauai and once to Maui we got better views than from the jets.
Which brings up the luggage remark and for whatever reasons seems to scare off some.
Island Air flys turbo prop planes and carry less than 40 people however flight times are about the same.
Until Go started the fare battle IA was quite often a better bargin than the other two.
