Can anyone recommend an authentic Luau in Maui? Thanks!

Old Lahaina Luau- not just me i think it's pretty much unanimously considered the best option on Maui

Thanks. Do you have to reserve this in advance or can you just show up?

Get advanced reservations ASAP! We got ours 5+ months out and had good seats.

I'm going next week, so I doubt I'll get a reservation since you made yours so far in advance. But I'll try anyway! Would anyone be able to tell me how to reserve/who to call? Are there any other reputable ones like Old Lahaina since that one may be full? Thanks a million.

If you're a member of AAA, they give you a free "gift" (mug, etc.) when you go.

Thank you SO much!!! I just booked it for next week w/o a problem. Does anyone know how far a drive it is (roughly) from West Maui (Napili Point)?

I would think it's about a 15-20 min. drive from Napili, but I'd leave earlier in case of traffic. Plus you might have to wait a few minutes in line getting in, getting your picture taken, etc. You can get there early and walk around the grounds. They have people demonstrating Hawaiian crafts then too. Have fun!!

I also plan to book this luau and was wondering if anyone knows which type of seating is better? Also is it worth it to go to the feast at lele if we are doing the OLL? Thanks

Depends on whether or not you prefer sitting on your butt all night! We booked early enough that we got good seats at the tables. Of course the "traditional" seating on the mats is closer to the stage, but we were in the first row of tables (just past the mats) and thought it was great. Even my 13 and 9 year olds (who sit on the floor all the time) didn't want to do the traditional seating. Personal preference, I suppose.

I wouldn't do both luaus if I were you.

About how much is the lahaina luau and will I need to pay for it when I make the reservations? Do they give a discount for AAA?

www.oldlahainaluau.com. $88.54/adult; $57.29/child. I've read on this forum that they give a mug to each AAA customer who reserves, but no discounts.

I just got back from Maui and both hotels I staid at said the Feast at Lele was the better luau. We went with thier recomendation and it was great. The difference is it's a more intimate setting (125 people versus 400) and foods served to you in 4 courses versus buffet style. I would also reccomend getting reservations in advance.
