Mels yer killin' me!

My new fave breakfast is a Bloody Mary at the Lihue Airport bar. The perfect way to start the gloomy flight home!

Hi Kal! My sister just brought home a lilikoi chiffon pie from Kauai (like a fancy schmancy lemon meringue?). mmmmm.

Lately, we've been eating breakfast at King's Cafe on King Street in the McCully area. They have regular breakfast or Japanese breakfast, and sometimes fancy seafood stuff for breakfast.....

Melissa, speaking of pie and King Street, we were on Oahu for Thanksgiving one year and stopped into Tamashiro Market for some lunch. There was a huge pie business going on with all these folks picking up pies they had pre-ordered for the holiday. I believe it was coconut cream something, looked delicious! Can you tell me what kind of pie everyone was buying? I'm thinking we might *need* one when we're visiting again in two weeks!

Hmm. Spike, I hardly go to Tamashiro Market nowadays but I can find out. So just to clarify...the coconut pie was from Tamashiro? The big rage here is Haupia Chocolate pie from Ted's Bakery, and that pie is sold all over now. (Heck, I can even make one myself.) OR Haupia/Sweet Potato pie. Post back here and I'll call Tamashiro Market tomorrow.

Haupia sweet potato pie, DA bes, for breakfast or any other occasion.

When in the hood, findTed's Sunset Beach location and read all about it at http://starbulletin.com/1999/02/08/news/story8.html

Mliss: Funny we haven't run into you at King's yet. I had breakfast with Michael there today. Aloha, k

Yummy, I have had haupia sweet potato pie at Don Ho's (Aloha Tower) and that was great!

Kalena: my running group usually goes to King's Cafe on Sundays after running. We alternate between that and dim sum. But always gotta run first to alleviate the guilt before eating loco moco!
