Just wondering if anyone has heard anything about The Villages in Florida? Would appreciate any input. Thanks. Eileen

Could you be more specific? There are lots of places throughout Florida with names like that. Is this a resort, housing development, retirement village? What's the nearest county or town?

They call themselves an Active Adult Community (55 & older), located near Lady Lake. I believe they are centrally located about an hour north of Orlando. Hope that helps. Eileen

My parents (retired teachers) just visited friends who live in The Villages. Apparently there are activities galore (I only remember hearing about line dancing, though). As my mom put it, "They have everything, and if they don't have something that enough people want, they'll get it."

That's all I can tell ya.

Eileen, I have a friend who moved t this place about a year ago. She likes it very much. They have a video they will send you about the property etc. I have heard all positive comments. They have there own restuarants. entertainment in the p.m. and many activities.

Eileen, my sister-in-law and her husband live in the villages for about 4 years now...we have visited them 2x and will see them again in August for a few days...it is a really nice community..lot's of things to do and see. Most people travel by golf-cart as you can go just about anywhere..they are continually building up and adding more shopping areas, restaurants and now I also think a new hospital. The "town" is really a great place, good food and music almost every night..if you are a people person, this is definitely a good place to live. Have you had the opportunity to visit, I think you can stay in one of their villas for a couple of days while you check the place out...We have a favorite restaurant call Katie Belles, good food, drink and music/dancing. Anymore info, just e-mail me. Phyllis

The Villages is in the middle of nowhere in Lake and Sumter Counties. It is about an hour northwest of Orlando.

This from the Orlando Sentinel tells you about the "wonderful" Villages.
