Hanalei Pier

Where is it? Do we want to go there? If so, why so? If not, why not?

You'll find Hanalei Pier at the beautiful Hanalei Bay beach, which is one of my favorites. The pier is used for picnicing, fishing, making out, you name it! To me, the beach itself is the real attraction there, as it is 2 miles of crescent. Check it out!

i2,
We sat on the end of the pier one afternoon and watched outrigger canoe races in the bay. The views of the surrounding mountains from the pier are lovely. We hung out there in the afternoons after days spent snorkeling at Makua. It was a great place to regroup, take a swim in the calm bay and decide where to go eat dinner.
You lucky devilette!

bf & I had a picnic dinner on the beach there for sunset during our trip. Got some really pretty pics of the pier and boats in the harbor. If you're in the North Shore area, you should fit a quick stop in at least, it's really a nice setting.

oh yeah, everything in Hanalei is easy to find, it's a quaint little town...you'll find the beach & pier there easily. At nearby Zelos, you can catch a little happy hour, $2 tacos and beer (it was early, 3-5 or something like that).

The last time I was on that pier mrlou and I were playing with local children, talking story with the locals and watching Bethany, the one armed surfing goddess get her sea legs back...I cant say if you want to go there, but I dream of it almost daily....but I'm just a crazy loon!

Is it a fishing pier or just a pier out into the water?

Rent "South Pacific" I'm pretty sure there are some scenes where you can see the pier.

There's a photo of the pier on this site-scan down a bit. Other great pix of beautiful Kauai. And yes, the pier was in "South Pacific" (which also shows Lumahai Beach where Mitzi Gaynor" washed that man right out of her hair.")
