Hana for lunch , Dinner Where?

I am staying in Hanar for a night next week. Were driving from Kanapali area and taking our time..staying a night and then returning next day so we can enjoy drive and not be rushed. However, Maui Revealed book only speaks of two restauraunts and one store. What do you suggest for a one nite stay in Hana for dinner ?
Should we bring food and cook ourselves or what...I hear the restaurant is terrible except for dinner and it runs $ 45- 65 per person...crazy....

The book was pretty well on the mark.
There was supposed to be another place opening but I am not sure if it has yet or not. What you lack in food I am sure you will make up for in having Hana to yourselves for awhile.

I suggest the bar at the Hotel Hana Maui.
As much as I was disappointed in the hotel, our dinner in the bar was reasonably priced and good. Far better alternative than any of the other "options".

For our odd culinary experience with dinner at the Hotel Hana Maui, click on my name and find my post titled "Maui trip report--action packed with details". It was strange to say the least, and it was $45 per person--for a buffet. We didn't eat at the place that Maui Revealed gives the REALLY bad review to--Hana Ranch House I think?

Where are you staying? Our villa at the Hana Hale Malamalama had a full kitchen and we cooked several meals in our two night stay. There's two general stores in Hana, we only went to Hasegawa's, a strange place with a little bit of everything in a dirty warehouse setting. Hana's a tough place to dine.

Not many choices in Hana...but you cottage has full kitchen...take food with you, and/or go to one of the general stores. (Suggest you take your meat dishes...as the meat in the general stores did'nt seem too appitizing to me)

The baby back ribs in the bar at the Maui Hotel were not bad....appitizer $15.00

Agree with the statement about the meat in the general stores...it didn't look so hot. Would suggest bringing something in a cooler if you have to have it.

And no, don't know anything about the cottage you're staying at!
