auntie,

Oh goody. You and I can sit around and talk story while Mels and Marteen go running!

Not sure of the exact dates yet, but we'll be on Oahu either July 28-30 enroute to Kaua'i \/ or Aug 10-12 on our way home.

Anyone else have any input on Waikiki hotels?

Hmmm...no one has mentioned the "W" -- reportedly very upscale, contemporary and kewl (just like you and Marteen), and located waaaaay down at the quiet end of Waikiki (you said you wanted "quiet"):

Love the way they categorize their rooms -- choose from "wonderful", to "extreme wow"!

Or if you really want to get away from all the madness of Waikiki proper:

One more...we really like the Alana Doubletree (now a Hilton property). It caters to the business traveler, and doesn't really encourage families:

Not on the beach, but it does have a pool.

Thanks for extra info auntie. I'll look into them. I'm in no hurry.

Between the ones Auntie just suggested, I'd pick the W and Kahala Resort over the Alana. The Alana's rooms are kind of smallish by comparison, although I'll admit it's a good value. The Kahala brunch is good, too!!!!
