Great Lunch Spot on Pier/Santa Cruz,CA

My daughter and her youth group are spending the day at the Boardwalk tomorrow with their leaders. The adults would like a nice place for lunch somewhere on the pier to take the girls to.

I was disappointed with Stangaro's last trip, any other suggestions? The girls enjoy clam chowder, pizza and fish and chips! TIA!! ***kim***

One of the "local" favorites is Riva Fish house - it is inexpensive and the food is decent. The Pier is not the best spot for food in Santa Cruz.

No pizza that I know on the Pier...

Gilberts is a nice place - good food, nice view. Ideal Fish Co has good food too, it's at the base of the wharf.

I wonder what happened with Stagnaros. Our family goes there pretty regularly and have never had a bad meal. Maybe they had an off day or something. Too bad you were disappointed with it.

We just returned from the wharf yesterday. First of all it was Gilbert's where we had the bad meal.

We tried Stangaro's yesterday for dinner. The views are nice from the place and I had the sand dabs which were really good. The green salad that was served with the dinner was not very good, tho and the side of vegetables had a butt of the zucchini in it.

We were tired and hungry tho, so all in all it was better than Gilbert's. My hubby said his clam chowder was horrible, but we're really spoiled from dining on the Oregon Coast.

I've heard good things about the Crow's Nest, but we didn't feel like hunting around town to find it. Any opinions on that place? ***kim***

The Crows Nest has good food - maybe you shouldn't try it though. I like Gilberts and Stagnaros too - LOL!

Actually, I am thinking from your other posts that Santa Cruz may just not be for you. You are probably more the Carmel/Pebble Beach type, yes?

LOL! Maybe so! My son and his fiance won't return to Santa Cruz, they went last summer and said the place was "dirty." We spend a lot of time on the Oregon Coast and are really spoiled now!

My husband and son dined at the Bittersweet Bistro in Aptos last night and said I would love it there. Have you been?

There were also lots of flys in the Stangaro's restaurant and I think that would be a turn off to anyone! LOL

I can't get my husband over to the Pismo area, he much prefers Carmel and always begs to go to Roy's when we're in the area. I have not seen Half Moon Bay yet but that Ritz Hotel looks very nice. Are the waves good there? He's dying to try out that new board.

He suggested going to the Carmel Beach, there were a few surfers there last time we visited this area.

J, have been to the Oregon Coast? You seem to like the beach a lot too and I know you're a big fan of Tahoe, which I love! ***kim***

Food on the Pier isn't so hot, but I would recommend Riva's for the GELATO! The food is fine, but I really must say gelato gelato gelato. The Crow's nest is fine, a bit fancier, but it is over by the harbor on the other side of the bay.

I'm looking forward to my meals in Carmel. Casanova, Bouchee, California Market and Sierra Mar. I'll report back when we return! ***kim***

I haven't been to the Crow's Nest in a few years, but the last time we went there is was very good! Shrimp tempura, glass of wine, dining on the deck in the evening . . . yummmmm
