Dining in Santa Cruz

It depends on if you want little upscale or casual. For casual I'd go with Phill's in Moss Landing , Stagnaro's on the Santa Cruz wharf or the Wharf House on the Capitola wharf. For a little nicer dining try The Crows Nest at the yacht harbour, The Sea Cloud at the S.C. wharf, Cafe Rio in Aptos, Hooked on Fish in Scotts Valley or try one of my favorite restaurants Cafe Cruz in Capitola. It doesn't look like much from the outside but it's lovely once inside.

I'll vouch Phil's Fish Market and Stagnaro's (best on the wharf, IMO). Crow's Nest is very good, too. We love Cafe Cruz, but I've never thought of it as place to get seafood. Their prime rib is great. Palapas in Aptos has very good seafood with a Mexican flair. Rio Del Mar has great shrimp fajitas, but go there just for the food. The decor is not so great.
Have fun!

My husband and I were just talking about Phil's Fish Market they other day - how it used to be just a little place that sold fish and had a little takeout place on the side with serve yourself chowder and a couple other things. The first time I went to Phil's after the expansion I didn't even recognize it.

We spend a lot of time in Capitola. Enjoy Clouds in Santa Cruz, Palapas in Aptos and Cafe Cruz at on 41st St. in Santa Cruz. There is a great fish market right next to Carpos at the Soquel turnoff - called The Fish Lady - the best fresh salmon ever! Enjoy your stay!
