Got Plans for New Year's Eve? Want to Count Down With a Giant Walleye?

In Port Clinton, Ohio, a giant walleye (fish) drops from the sky as they count down to the New Year. Really. I'm not making this up:

Does anyone know about other unusual New Year's Eve observations or celebrations taking place? Anything quirky going on in your neck of the woods?

I got this from a search of Fodor's, but nothing related to New Year's Eve:

I'll throw this out there again and see if anyone bites. Anyone?
I'm shameless.
And pathetic.

Sorry. Once you throw out Walleye Madness, the competition folds.

I don't know of any unique NYE events, but in general, I hate the countdowns to Christmas/NYE. It puts so much pressure on the days in between. I don't like to see the days slip away.

google "quirky new year's eve celebrations" - in addition to walleye, sardines drop in Maine and a drag queen drops from a ruby slipper in Key West, FL...
