Nice dinner out with a few friends and then retiring to the house with the same group to drink, I mean ring, in the New Year!

Well, we're invited to a get-together about 40 minutes from home. I hate driving on New Year's Eve, so we probably will beg off (really, I hate New Year's Eve as an "event" anyway). Last year we went to the movies and were in bed by 11. Likely the same this year. Either way, the next day will still be January 1st and the year will still be 2009 (did I say how much I dislike going out on New Year's Eve?)

Staying home, trying to avoid drunk idiots on the roads.

I have never had a big New Years Eve event.....I hope to go to Glenwood Springs, CO, maybe taking the train up to the mtns and coming back. Doesn't that sound like fun?

We host a party here in NorCal where we have champagne toasts at 9 (New York), 10 (Chicago), 11 (Denver) and then at midnight. That way, folks can enjoy a "whoop-te-doo" and be home whenever they choose. Everyone gets into the act of "clock-watching". Been doing this for almost ten years--.
