Good Italian Restaurant in Manhattan

We're meeting friends for dinner while we're in Manhattan. They recommended Esca but after checking their menu, it is ALL FISH. (they obviously like fish more than I do). Can anyone recommend an Italian restaurant that serves something else as well as fish so we're all happy? Thanks.

Forgot to add...location preferred is Midtown West. Price including wine of approximately $100. per person is OK.

If you are willing to take a 20 minute cab ride towards the Village, then Babbo would be your best bet for one of the best, if not the best, Italian in NYC. It's a most hedonistic way to spend $100 pp.

Remi meets all your criteria -- great Italian food, a beautiful restaurant, good service, midtown west.

My favorite restaurant on the upper west side is Pomodoro on Columbus AVe and 70th St. One of the best Italian restaurants in the city. They also make their own bread (focacia), all night long and it is wonderful.

I hate to even put this in print because I don't want it to become a popular place to go, but this is my favorite restaurant in any city. Nanni's on 56th (I think) and Lex. Look them up for the exact address.

WHen are you coming? Babbo and Il Mulino book up well in advance unless you are eating at 5 or 9pm.

You can also search by neighborhood, view menus and reader user comments on menupages.com.

The best recently-reviewed Italian in NYC is Spigolo on the Upper East Side.

Get out of "midtown west" regardless of where you choose.

Antoher good choice is Becco.. and it's in the neighborhood you're looking at.
www.becconyc.com If you're a fan of Lydia Bastianich.. this is one of her restaurants.
Enjoy!

Il Mulino...try making lunch reservations. A bit easier to get in and less expensive. Enjoy!

You have to check out Nanni Restaurant on 46th Street between 3rd and Lexington. This restaurant has been around since 1967 and is one of the best Italian restaurants in New York City. The food and service is world class.
