Good Deal?
Hello all,
I am seriously thinking about sneaking in a vacation during the upcoming holiday weekend for 4 days and 3 nights (Sat-Tue). I have been quoted $695 for airfare from the midwest and two-star hotel at Waikiki Beach. Also, I will be traveling solo. After reading previous posts, I am confident that there is sufficient things to do to more than fill my time. Having never been to Hawaii, is $695 for this package just about right, too much, or a good deal? Thank you for your time.

IMHO, I think its a good price especially including a "single" hotel room. However,I think its a long way to go for a short time.Another consideration is that returning, eastbound flights from Hawaii traditionally depart in the evening and arrive early the next morning.I would not want to have to go to work after an all night flight. But thats just ME!Hawaii is wonderful.Even for a short time.

Pauley - Seems like a fairly good priced package, depending on which hotel is included. Don't mean to rain on your parade, but I'm also from the Midwest, and always feel like I'm losing about a day and a half to travel time. It never stops me, tho. I've been to Hawaii about 14 times - love it! I was in Oahu last October, so if you need any suggestions regarding activities, let me know. Aloha!

Keep in mind that of your 72 hours on vacation you'll spend about 18 travelling and 20 sleeping. That's about half.
On the other hand, if you've never been to Hawaii, it'll be an adventure.
I've taken similar trips to London and Paris in which travel time was about a third of the trip. But I didn't care at the time. I went for the spontaneous short-notice fun of it all.
And for me it was worth it.

Hello again,
Thanks for your responses. Regarding travel time, the schedule has me departing Saturday at 7:30 am and arriving at 1:30 pm Hawaii time. I will return at 9;00 pm Hawaii time and arrive home at 3;00 pm (EDT). So, I will actually be in Hawaii for 3 full days. Anything shorter than that I would not even consider. I just hope that I can sleep some on the plane during the return flight, as I will have some professional responsibilities later on the day I return.

You may want to check www.biddingfortravel.com to see what you can get as far as hotels and airfare. You may be able to put together a better package on your own.
Have a great trip!
