Good breakfast or brunch on Sunday downtown Memphis?

I am hoping some locals can recommend a good place. We will be staying at the Comfort Inn Downtown on a Sat. night and would love a good breakfast Sunday morning. Any place you would recommend ranging from a diner to a nice brunch? We are open to either casual or a bit more. Thank you for any suggestions.

When we stayed at the Doubletree, we ate a full breakfast buffet downstairs at the onsite TGIFridays. This hotel is across the street from the Peabody, which I expect has a fabulous $$ Sunday Brunch.

I saw your post about this on another travel board, and I hope that the local expert will answer it. He seems to have some very reliable information about things like that, and as I recall he has a favorite breakfast place downtown.

We've eaten at the TGIFridays, and sadly, thought it was pretty bad. We've also eaten breakfast at the Peabody and haven't been particularly impressed either. You'll be distressed to know that the best breakfast we've had in Memphis is the free one at the Marriott Residence Inn

Thanks for your replies. Susan,I appreciate your comment about the Peabody. I suspected as much, and I guess what we'd like is a more down-to-earth place with good grits, sausage, etc. Yes, I hope the local person weighs in on the subject. Thanks for all thoughts.

We had brunch at the Peabody and found it to be pretty good.
