Going to Clearwater Beach, FL
Would like a resort/hotel/house that has a small kitchen for 4 adults, and 2 teens, but actually on Clearwater Beach. Also, would like a pool. Do you know of any place? Going there in August of this year. Thanks.

Be careful annsford when booking Clearwater beach. We have just returned and there are extensive road works happening all along the beachfront road. It's impossible to stroll along the front and parking is a nightmare.
Fortunately we were only there for the day and actually stayed at Treasure Island, a couple of miles outside.
Of course much of the work may be completed by August, but I would certainly check it out before booking.

You can move down just a bit to Sand Key -- the Sheraton is right on the beach, and it's stunning (the hotel, the beach, the view).
Or you can take your pick from the many other islands just south of Clearwater Beach and Sand Key -- Redington Beach, Treasure Island, St. Pete Beach, etc.

We're budget travelers so this might not have all the amenities you need but we found this gem on St. Pete Beach when we went to Florida for MLK weekend this past Jan.
The Bay Palm Resort (www.baypalmresort.com) is not right on the beach, it's right across the street with easy access. The best thing about BP is their huge patio/dock right on the bay . . . we had dolphins all around every morning (and maybe throughout the day but we were only on the doc in the a.m. . . . the rest of the time we were out/about).
You can also fish from the dock and sometimes during the year, they have manatees hanging around.
They do have a nice, heated pool and BBQ you can use. They had several different kinds of rooms and we looked at a suite that had a living room and big kitchen. Our room had 2 double beds, microwave, coffee, refrig, tv, bath w/shower and was very clean . . . we paid approx. $66 inc taxes.
When we return to that area, we will definitely try to stay there again.
Good luck,
Sandy (in Denton)
