Glenwood Springs CO Hotels

We are wondering where to stay next week in Glenwood Springs, CO. Any favorite places? Any places to be avoided? Thanks!

Hotel Colorado is THEE place in Glenwood. Historic, rooms vary. I like to sit in the garden and have a drink. Across the street from the Hot Springs pool. Several motels in town, know nothing about them.

We stayed in the Glenwood Springs Lodge, which was fine. Nothing to gush about, though.

I agree about Hotel Colorado. several years ago, we arrived in town late and the only thing they had available was a top floor suite. I think it was the best stay in a hotel I have ever had. We had to walk up the last two flights since the elevator did not go to those floors. The suite was huge, covering 1/2 of the entire face of the building and with a large outside covered deck. As I recall, it was less than $100 but, as I said, my best night in a hotel ever.

Take the gondola ride up to the Glenwood Cavern.
Avoid the hostel in the south end of town.
The pool near the Hotel Colorado is the largest hot spring fed pool in the US.
I have hiked up to the cemetery to see Doc Holliday's memorial stone. He was buried in the cemetery at night more than a year after he died (not under the stone).

I thought the hotel across the street from the pool was the Hotel Denver. The pool on the southside of I-70 and I thought the Hotel Colorado was on the northside of I-70.

The Hotel Colorado and the big pool are on the north side of the Colorado River and I-70. http://www.hotelcolorado.com/
The Hotel Denver is on the south side of the river just west of the Amtrak station.
The gondola ride is north west of Hotel Colorado.
There is a good pedestrian bridge over the railroad, river and interstate highway.
