Girl' Getaway

Need destination suggestions for a group of 40-something Moms. Great food & drink is a must! Spa,shopping, theater, cooking classes, live music--just don't want to sit around in a swimsuit. Looking at an April trip & have already done NYC, Chicago,Napa & Vegas. Any thoughts on Savannah, Santa Fe? Thanks!!!

I don't know what to tell you about the cooking classes, but instead of Savannah, I'd go to Charleston.
Charleston is a beautiful city with lots of tours, great food, and wonderful things to see and do.
With all you want to do, have you also given any thought to possibly a cruise?

We 50-something Moms did New Orleans last November. Lots of music! New Orleans Cooking School was great fun.

The Hill Country Food and Wine Festival is going on the weekend of April 7-10 in Austin. You can do some classes, attend events, stay at the Four Seasons for spa services.

The 1st Thursday of the month is fun on S. Congress with all the shops staying open 'til 10pm and lots of live music.

For great food and drink, New Orleans is the first city that popped into my head. For daytime activities, there's the garden district, the aquarium, the zoo, graveyard tours and vampire tours in the evening. Lots of music and I imagine you can find cooking classes for that fabulous cajun/creole food!

Just be careful of festival weekends, hotel prices skyrocket, French Quarter Fest is Apr 8-10, 2005

New Orleans does sound like just the ticket for your group.

What other type of food would you want to learn to cook? Come to New Orleans!
Food & drink need no explanation here. Spa- Ritz, Belladonna
Shopping - plenty
Theater- The Saenger has shows, but try some local shows like at Le Chat Noir - usually the best "girls nights out"!
Watch out for the French Quarter Festival unless you want to come FOR it! Also, Jazz Fest the last weekend.

Santa Fe should be lovely in April, and it has everything you're looking for.

New Orleans, Charleston or Sante Fe are better choices than Savannah.
