Hi, we are staying at 14 st and M, at the Wyndham, a friend told me to take the Metro but it seems located at least three blocks from the
closest station, that is McPherson, is it worth it>? or a taxi will do much better, how much is the taxis fare.?

You could take the metro and then a taxi. Reagan National is the closest in of all the airports near major cities.
You are within 5 miles of your hotel and taxis are all over the airport.
They line up 20 deep it seems.

On the streets of DC, my experience has been that all you need do is wave and one will stop. I have even seen them make u turns in the middle of the block to pick up a fare.
I think it is a function of how much baggage you have with you.
Some of those inner city stops are buried and it is a long escalator ride to the surface.

so you are about 4 blocks from M Street. It is not a bad walk in the day, unless it is raining.

I would not walk it with 60 pounds of gear even if I could pull it on wheels.
But if all I had was a carry-on type of suitcase, I would walk it in a flash.

I think it depends on some factors we don't know about. If you are on an expense account versus self pay and the abundance/shortage of money, the decision might be more obvious.

I would take a cab. It's only about $10-15.

I stay at hotels in that area most of the time and always take the metro if I have a light load of one wheeled and an attached carry on.
Any more than that, or if it is dark, rainy, smowy, etc... outside, I take a cab.
The stop is just a short walk away.

I'd take the metro--3 blocks isn't that far and the metro station is right inside the airport.

Depending on how much luggage you have, time of day, and the weather, I would suggest a taxi. It won't cost more than 20 dollars for the group and you also get doorstop service. Lugging your bags on metro and then carrying them across three blocks seems like a lot of work.

Yep, bottom line is, will you have too much luggage to carry for 3-4 blocks? I would also add that during rush hour the Metro gets very crowded, and getting on a train with big suitcases can be a hassle.

I took the metro twice from DCA. The first time it was a breeze(2pm Saturday)The second time was a Friday 1 pm (M-F rush) That was a mistake. The cars were packed. We managed to get on but it was elbow to elbow and people had to squeeze by just to get in and out.I can laugh now but a taxi would have been a savior. Oh the lessons we learn by our mistakes. What's a few extra bucks to save a little dignity. The cab fare is not bad.
