georgia on my mind

Hi y'all. After moving abroad a few years ago, this Georgia gal and her Australian hubby have Georgia on our minds Looking forward to seeing family during our visit. Very interested to hear any comments from folks about what to do, where to eat, etc in my old home state...we've done Fox Theatre, Mary Macs tearoom, fat matt's rib shack, the Varsity drive-in. Would like to hear from y'all--don't mind travelling for good barbecue. Krispy Kreme donuts have arrived here-- my Aussie sis-in-law is over the moon!
PS gotta stop posting these messages when I'm hungry--oops.

smore, are you living in Georgia now? If so, come to our Fodor's Atlanta GTG on Saturday!

I saw Nicole Kidman in a winter coat on TV today and was reminded that it was winter there. And, y'all spend Christmas on the beach, don't you?

There so much to do in Atlanta at Christmas time. I'll think of some of my favorites and add later. For southern cooking that MAY be better than Mary Mac's, go to the Colonnade on Cheshire Bridge.

Hi again, Starrville. How funny you should mention one of my late Daddy's favourite restaurants--he loved the Colonnade's fried chicken. I have fond memories of our Sunday afternoons as after church the family would pile into the stationwagon on a quest to find the best barbecue (usually found in Mom and Pop holes-in-the-wall) around the state. I miss those leisurely days-and my Georgia family--but the pace here in OZ is not quite as frenetic(YET)as it appears to be in the States.
Thanks in advance for the feedback...all the best, Susie
