Fun things to do on Kauai
My family will be making a trip at the end of June, to Kauai. Myself, husband and 15 year old son. I was told about a tubing trip that needs to be booked well in advance, has anyone done that? Also would like to do Kayaki trip.

Hi, You should do the Princeville Zipline for sure!!! It is a blast and you get to have a bite to eat and swim in a small waterfall too! You can go to www.adventureskauai.com for info. My husband and I (45&47) did it last Nov. Awesome!!!! Have a great vacation!

My 13yr old loved the Princeville zipline as well. He also loves to take surfing lessons at the beach. We have taken them at Poipu Beach when staying near there, but I am sure that if you are in the Princeville area there are surf lesson opportunities there, too. We also enjoyed the garden tour (Allerton) in Poipu. My DS went along begrudingly, but ended up enjoying it. Hikes are always great, many in Kauai to choose from, check out the Kauai Revealed book for other activities.

My kids enjoyed kayaking, a catamaran trip to the other side of the island for snorkeling, and jumping off a cliff down a waterfall!! We never did the zipline but know they would have loved that. With the kayaking trip we also hiked to a beautiful waterfall and swam in the water.

Hi CandaceJ
We did the tubing:

It was unique and fun. You basically laze around on the tubes for a few miles along old irrigation ditches. You even glide through some manmade tunnels. You get to wear hard hats with lights on them (see web site) so you're not in complete darkness while in the tunnels.

Yes, we did book it online prior to our trip. I cannot remember how far in advance (but knowing anal me) it was probably about 2 months out. Our tour was full but that completely doesn't matter once you're out in the tubes. Plus, our guides were very fun and knowledgeable.

We will be in Kauai the last week of June. We tried to book the tubing adventure for June 26th way back in January. That date was already booked. We were lucky enough to get reservations for the 27th. So if you haven't book, you should ASAP! Hope you have a great time!
