Fun place to go on 4th of July in So Cal?
We are trying to go somewhere with our family on the fourth of July. Beach is pretty much out. All of the baseball games have sold out their tickets. Disneyland is probably gonna be packed. Any ideas on a fun two or three night weekend place to go for the fourth of July weekend that won't cost $500 a room? That is the cost to stay on Mission Beach for that weekend. Ideas, wise travel people??? Where are you going?

Hi all. Ain't no way we are gonna get a reservation for Coronado for the fourth at this late date. They are totally booked. So is Mission, unless you want to pay $400 a night to stay at the Bahia, and I don't think so.
For now, just to have something, we have booked the Marriott at the Marina for $200 a night, which includes breakfast. That is pretty fair, I think. They have a nice pool and are located near Gaslamp and Horton Plaza. We are also going to try and score some tickets to a Padres game.
WE did consider Big Bear, but for now think we will stay with this plan. Thanks for your help though. Thought this thread was dead.

If you're in the Gaslamp area, you can take the foot ferry over to Coronado to watch the parade, relax on the beach, or even stay for the fireworks that night. Get over there early though..you may even be able to buy ferry tickets the day before.
No tickets, no room reservations required!
