Okay, make it travel related: any experiences to support the idea that things are more likely to go wrong traveling during the full moon? Missed connections, loony concierges, etc.?

How about Portuguese Man of Wars on the windward coast of Oahu? My son got stung there last month on the second day after the full moon. Ouch!

LOL, there was not enough controversy to keep that last Moon post alive

I have shamelessly topped my Egrets thread too.

Actually, the Blue Book says 9-10 days after a full moon, lookout for the man-o-wars! (Are they all male??)

OSB - I don't know if they're all male or not. I thought I read somewhere that they were made up of more than one organism, but I could be wrong on that. I'm embarrassed to admit that I did read that in the blue book, but we were looking for the float and couldn't see them where the surf splashes in. We won't make that same mistake again.

No offense taken - I don't watch Lost, but I think you're referring to urinating on it. I actually sent my older son down the beach to ask an old Hawaiian fisherman what to do and that is what he suggested. I'd heard that before, but in the panic of the situation just couldn't think straight. Well...that wasn't gonna happen so the poor baby just screamed while we walked 2 blocks back to the condo and then soaked him in a vinegar bath. From what I could find in a Google search that day, not everyone agrees that vinegar or urinating on it is the best remedy. Anyway, the vinegar did seem to relieve the pain and all was well after that. We just hit the beaches at the north shore after that.

What about meat tenderizer? -- we were always told: "Adolph's!" Is that only for smaller jelly stings?
