New to Fodors - Any Limits on Postings?

Some other boards where we post frown on lengthy threads and people who dominate the site. What's the story here? I see some names post all day long, about every subject, and stay on even late at night. Is that the norm? Why do they do it? Not a troll, just interested in what goes on here and is this a good place to talk about travel, before I get too hooked.

I assume you read the link called "Rules" - there are no obvious concerns about long posts, frequent posts, etc. Much of the useless ranting and raving done by anonymous posters that used to happen here is now gone, since registration is now required. As long as you keep it clean and follow the rules about commercial posts, you'll be fine.

Maybe these folks you see posting, are stuck at a computer and filling the time on Travel forums, or they might be stuck at home with illness/duties that keep them near a computer, wish they were traveling, cheer themselves up with travel ideas.
At least these are my guesses as to why others post on travel forums.
How would one "dominate" the site?
As long as people are posting, things keep moving and there is something interesting to someone.
You never know when you too might need to take an elderly parent on a trip or leave one of your cats with a sitter.

Maybe that's one answer, but maybe people need some sunlight time too. Time to walk the dogs.

Better ideas? Sure, get a slicker on and go out into the rain and make a nice old mud pie for dinner, you know, the way you did when you were little and your mom told you not to get dirty. No computers then, just going outside and playing, rain or shine. Do it barefooted, and there will be less to clean up later. Watch the ooze between the toes! Make a nice one.

Isn't this a bit like the pot calling the kettle black, "Surfer"? Here it is your very first day ever of posting and you've already logged 12 posts since 11 this morning! hmmm

Oh, Olive, no fair counting, that's not fair. Can't I have some fun before I depart the site for good? It's too tame.
