Ft Mason hotel

Going to a wedding that will be at Ft Mason in SF next May.Have no idea about neighborhoods nearby, safety etc. There seem to be several hotels nearby, and the Cow Hollow Inn gets good comments in Fodors.Any suggestions or comments in general or about Cow Hollow would be helpful.Alternative sites would be appreciated.thanks

Cow Hollow Inn and Suites is convenient for you. If you will have a car, you will be doubly lucky because it, among other motor hotels in the area, has free parking, saving you up to $50/night. If you don't have a car, it is very convenient for public transportation.

I don't have my SF map handy, but you may actually be able to walk to Ft. Mason From there.

Go to Trip Advisor, California Forum and look up its reviews.

If you type in "Columbus Motor Inn, San Francisco" in google maps, and then zoom out a few steps, you can see Fort Mason and the Columbus Motor Inn on the same map. Its walkable, but I wouldn't do it in heels

Cow Hollow Suites are great for a big family group. Be sure to call them ask about various bed combinations. We once did a two bedroom apartment for four of us and ended up with two King Canopy beds (or maybe queens?) in the master, plus a King in the guest bedroom, plus a queen sleeper in the living room, and two full baths.

Wow!!Iwanted to get input from my wife and she asked about how hilly it was there, being familiar with Lombard street near Pier 39.If we walk to Ft Mason,or generally around the area,is it the steep hills like Lomard or is it more reasonable--I know SF is hilly, sorry for the crazy question, hope you all understand my meaning--thanks

The area around Cow Hollow and the Marina is pretty flat, at least from Fort Mason to that part of Lomboard Street, and to Union Street. From Union Street toward the south, it starts uphill. You won't have a problem.
