Ft. Lauderdale quick visit-can we make it?
We are arriving in Fort Lauderdale at 7:35pm, at FLL. We will have checked luggage. We really want to go to the Mai Kai show at 10pm. The Mai Kai suggests that you make a dinner reservation two hours before the show. We could make a reservation for 8:30.
Can we make it?
Rental car or taxi?
We are staying at the Hyatt Pier 66 and would like to go to the Bonnet House the next morning. We have to check in for Twin Air flight at noon. -can we make it?- I understand that Twin Air is in another part of the airport. Does the rental car return tram drop off to that part of the airport?
We really had our hearts set on visiting the Mai Kai and the Bonnet House but now I am wondering if the rental car pick up and drop off will add too much time and make it impossible.
Would it be super spendy to take a cab instead? Any idea what that would run?
Any suggestions would be welcomed.
Thank You!!!

I would use a cab. The Mai Kai is pretty close to the airport and close to the Hyatt. I would bet each would only be about $10-15.
FLL is notorious for long waits for checked luggage. The rental places are very far offsite.
I'm not familiar with where the twin air part is but they should drop you off there. FLL is also noted ofr having the longest security checkpoint waits by the Wall ST. Journal - so be aware of that too.
HTH!

While I have no idea how much a cab ride to the Mai Kai would be, I can tell you that I don't consider it "close" to the airport. It's about a 15 minute drive from Pier 66.
If you'll only be in town a day or so, I'd suggest taking cabs, would be quicker and possibly cheaper than a rental car.

Thanks for the great tips. We have decided to go by taxi and check our luggage at the Mai Kai. After reading about jd's experience at the rental car agency, I think that we would miss the show if we tried to rent a car.
