I've been looking into some bars in Vegas on www.vegas.com and some of them offer Front-Of-The-Line passes for about $20. What exactly does that guarantee? Is it worth it if I know that I want to go to a specific bar on a specific night?

A front of the line pass is just that. If there's a line to get in you get to go to the front of the line and get in first. Note - that these passes are not used for the more exclusive clubs - only those that admit anyone of age (or, they admit you to the general public are of the club - but not the exclusive or VIP areas.)

Also - they are not a guarantee of entry. If you appear to be already well under the influence/rowdy - or in some other way undesirable - you won't get in even with the pass.

These are usually not worth it. They're not for the better clubs which have a better crowd. Are you male or female? How many in your group? What is the male to female ratio? Are you going out to clubs on fri and sat nights?

In general, it's usually best to go early (9-10pm) and have girls in the group. If it's a lot of guys, you can spend this money on table service instead to get in.

If you are a girl, you can usually call the club itself (702 No.) and ask to be put in the list. I wouldn't bother with the passes. Do you have a specific club in mind -- I could help more if you know which club.

I'd like to try to get into Ghostbar for my birthday. I turn 21 on a Wed and I would like to be there at midnight if I can. I know that will be hard not being able to get in but I figure if I tell them its my birthday and its me and my best friend (both girls) I will have better luck.

(midnight meaning the night before my birthday so when it turns midnight and I am 21 I am already at the bar) ;-)

There are usually street vendors on the main vegas strip that sell passes. If you are a female and are staying at the Palms you can try getting a pass at their pool or ask a bartender about getting one (tip good) from a friend that's of legal drinking age. Ghostbar has crazy lines and it will be really long at midnight from people standing there from 10:45 on.

Be careful with a front of the line passes which are different than VIP passes. The only pass that will get you immediately through the door is the pass with complimentary entry and no waiting. Those "just" front of the line passes will sometimes put you in a separate line where you still have to wait for hours. You want VIP entry w/ entrance fees paid.

Also, do not be surprised if you are turned away until midnight, the casinos are extremely strict with legal age as there are heavy fines for violations. If you aren't 21 and you get carded you can't even look at a slot machine. After midnight you're fine

Ps, buying a table does not get you into nightclubs earlier, I know at Jet you can spend $400 on a table for the night and still stand in line. You'd have to check with each specific nightclub.

You may have trouble being under 21, even if you turn 21 at midnight. It all depends on your flirting skills. I recommend getting there around 9-9:30pm to have an easier time, before the huge lines. And even if there is a line, try to flirt with the bouncer in the front instead. Always works for me when I'm in a group of girls. Those people standing in mile-long lines end up spending their entire night there.
