Pertinent information can be found at www.mta.net. Put in your beginning and ending addresses. The blue line metro rail runs from downtown Long Beach to downtown LA.

You don't note your starting point, but yes, you can catch the Red line metro (or a bus heading to downtown) in Los Angeles to the 7th and metro station to the Blue Line to Long Beach. The blue line is not a subway, so the train goes about 20-30 miles per hour over the street once it leaves the Metro station. It takes well over an hour and it feels like it takes FOREVER. I wouldn't recommend it taking it all the way to Long Beach. Good for the Watt's towers.

Sorry about not giving good info. I am staying at Millenium Biltmore, and I will be at a the LA Convention and there is a another converntion that I want to go in Long Beach the same weekend. So my starting point would be the convention center and end in Long Beach at the convention center. Thanks for the link.

Agree the Blue Line would perfect. You'd get on at the Pico station at the Los Angeles Convention center and get off at the Long Beach Transit Mall. You'll end up just a couple blocks from the LB Convention Center. Takes about 50 minutes each way. You can get a day pass for $5.00. Ticket machines are available at all the stations.

You want the Metro Blue Line. The website is metro.net
I've taken the Blue Line between downtown and Long Beach often. It doesn't seem particularly slow to me especially during rush hour, where driving takes an hour also.
I recommend taking it during daylight or normal commute hours. It can seem a bit dodgy at night when it goes thru Compton.
