If you can learn just ONE useless bit of information each day of the year, then ...
After a year you'll know 365 useless bits of information!
(for the o.p.: Nothing wrong with some levity, but long winded discussion about appliance repair, dead dogs, new kittens, and recipes have more appropriate forums. Humor is a world-wide common ice-breaker. So you did NOT "get my goat" with this)

Oh Oh...is this totally useless information too? :-" Well...maybe we bend the rules a bit on Fridays
Fodors.com created Travel Talk as a place for participants to get and share advice about travel. To provide maximum benefit for travelers -- and to ensure that text and subject searches contain useful trip-planning information -- we restrict the discussion to travel. There are numerous venues all over the Web for conversations about politics, world history, and religion, or for parodies and salacious humor. The focus here is travel.

I finally had fried pickles this past weekend at a little town in Texas called Winchester (near Smithville). I remembered this thread when fodorites mentioned it here so I had to order some. It's good! ...however I still like fried mushrooms better.

For a healthy alternative to butter, margarine or crisco when baking cookies....substitute mashed northern beans (rinse the beans after opening the can) for 1/2 the fat. the beans will give you calcium, fiber (but won't make you gassy). Try it!!!
