freeport Me Lodging

Is there anywhere to stay in walking distance of the outlets? Thanks. Hate to drive in that traffic!

Look at Harraseeket Inn. Lovely property and easily walkable to all the good stuff in Freeport.

I'm sure there are many B and B's in walking distance as well. Suggest a google search for more information.

We *love* the Harraseeket and go there once a year for a nice getaway. If your schedule allows take advantage of their special Sunday or Monday night stay--listed in their packages on their website--which gives you the best room available at the time of your booking, for a deeply discounted price. This pkg requires that you have dinner in their dining room, which IMO, rivals the best restaurants anywhere. The Phantom Gourmet--a local Boston-based food critic--voted it one of the best in New England. As an example, when we were just there in May, we had a 2 room suite, w/fireplace in the LR, king bed and jacuzzi in the bath for $99 plus tax. We had to bill dinner--not cheap but worth it!!--to our room bill. However, all rooms there come w/a lovely civilized afternoon tea and a great buffet breakfast included in the room rate!! Believe me, I do not work for them, but ever since DH and I discovered this gem ~5 yrs ago, we go every spring.

We "double love" the Harraseeket Inn. Have stayed there every other year for about 20 years during the fall foliage season. Great location and all the amenities that Socialworker mentioned.

There is a Hampton Inn but not within walking distance. Really, the traffic isn't that bad. It shouldn't take you more than a few minutes and you would just need to park in one lot (free) and then could walk to all stores from there.

JMO, but being able to walk into town makes it feel more like a trip to "small town USA", so for us, it was not a traffic issue--which I am assuming the OP has had a bad experience with--but rather an ambiance and quality of the experience issue. One caveat, is that when you walk, you must hand carry all your shopping treasures back to the hotel!!
