Hello from Central New Jersey. A lovely warm day.

Rave- I've just been set free from jury duty. Kind of boring but I did my duty.

Rave- Trish! Thanks for the package. What a wonderful gift. Love the pin.

Rant- DD# 3 messed up her knee in a soccer game yesterday. Ortho will evaluate it next week and here's hoping its only a strain.

Rave- DH coming home from a business trip tonight but DD#1 won't be home for another week from her business trip.

Have a great weekend and stay safe.

Rave: Had a fabulous trip to Venice last week. It was cloudy, chilly and foggy with not a drop of rain. Perfect weather for romance.

Rave: My new living room furniture arrived yesterday w/o a single damage! I didn't expect it until Christmas so it was a pleasant surprise.

Rave: My island is on the Fodors Choice 2006 "Unbelievable Experiences" list. What a shock it was to see our tiny little paradise listed.

Rant: BuffaloGirl's broken leg. Ouch!

Rave: Scarlett and the Yankee's anniversary.

Rave: Jocelyn's little trooper.

Rave: Faina's six pounds that got lost.

Rant: sundowner's former SIL's diagnoses.

Praying for Jocelyn's son and for BuffaloGirl; broken bones are no fun!

Happy 200th, Scarlett! Any words of wisdom you'd care to share with us from all those years of experience?

Rave: 17yo DD made it into one of the all-state orchestras! I am amazed because I can count on one hand the times I've heard her practice... Anyway, she's excited and it's a fun time for the kids.

Rave: Off to Carlsbad next week - road trip!

Rave: We're thinking of moving to a new house. Mr. Pickle can't decide if it would be better to move or remodel this one. We looked at a house Tuesday which should have had "MONEY PIT - Enter At Your Own Risk" painted on the door.

Rave: I think I'll go see something at the dollar theater, then get Mr. Pickle and have a date night. Whooo hoooo!!

Happy weekend, everyone!

Update to my message at 2:40:

A technician is at the young lady's desk right now to retrieve and copy the nasty message that was left on her voice mail. I hope that seals the deal, and thay plumber is toast.

If I understand correctly, somebody is taking away THE ONLY COPY of that tape? No copies made? Maybe you should?

Healing to those broken bones!
Happy Aniversary Scarlett! When you're with that special person, 200 yrs feels like 20.

Rave: We're having hardwood installed in our home thru-out, it is looking great.

Rant: Oh, the dust, oh, the disorder. But it will be worth it.

Rant: COLONOSCOPY on Monday!! Sunday, I get to be on a clear liquid diet and have Fleets!! Yippee!

Rave: Woke up to a great laugh this morning on news radio - Brownie email: "I am a fashion God." LOL

Rave: Finally booked my plane tickets - I leave for Australia/New Zealand in a month! Now, on to finding hotels...

Rant: It took me two weeks, five websites, and two travel agents to finally find me flights that didn't cost $5000 or have two 8-hour layovers in one trip. So many websites gave errors when I tried to book (from several types of computers) or they wouldn't allow 4 multi-city trips. One travel agent wouldn't get back to us after repeated phone calls and the other kept sending us itineraries that didn't match what we said we wanted, and wouldn't book thru multiple airlines. Ugh!! Anyway, the winner is...Orbitz!

Faina, sorry if I was unclear. He is retrieving it an making a copy. She will still have her copy.

It was a busy day at work and I only had time for skimming, but I look forward to reading all of the R&R's later tonight.

Rant/Rave: All the tourists buying real estate with no idea of relative values.

Feliz fin de semana.

Happy healing to those with broken bones.

Here's to marriages that last 200 years!

I was completely out of sorts when Fodors was not operating this morning. . . hmm, this may be a sign of an addiction!

Rave: Just bought a bottle of Prosecco for tonight's poison.

Rave: Visiting family this weekend.

Rave: The community here that is so supportive! Of course, there are always exceptions, but they are definately the minority!

Thank you for the good wishes. No , it does not feel like we have been married for 200 years. I am always surprised at the number! But that is the way I feel about my age too , so go figure~

Tips for a Happy Marriage..
Get married when you are too young to know better.
Have children right away.
Grow up together..
Pick the right one...( that is the hard part- some poeple have to try a couple of times to get that one right)

Rants: Bones are breakable, knees and elbows get hurt! So sorry BuffGirl, Jocelyn's little one, Jersey's kid and all the others wearing 'cool' casts...

Rave: Scarlett and the Yankee's anniversary. OWJ2 and I only have 198.5 more years to catch up

Rave: Got to see my Becca Boo and Michael last weekend when we went to NY. My niece is really growing up and my little nephew is an absolute trip! He's so cute and has one incredible personality, even at 20mo. old. We carved pumpkins and played lots of games and watched Becca's team play soccer. She was the kid twirling on the field w/another girl, more interested in the social more than the sport. Where does she get that from?!

Rant: Never got to see my other brother, his wife or the twins.

Rant: I ate too much in NY

Rave: But it was soo good! Pastrami at Katz's, my favorite ultra thin crust pizza, *real* NY bagels the size of dinner plates and appetizing...Good thing I live in Atlanta and dont' have that stuff here.

Rave: The leaves in NY/NJ along 287 were gorgeous and much more vibrant than here in Atlanta. I thought I'd miss the colors but got lucky.

Good wishes to those with illnesses or loved one who are sick. Happy birthdays and anniversaries and plain old good times for all!

TGIF,
OWJ

Rave: I finally found a fantastic General Contractor that will paint the exterior of the house.

Rant: He also found the water drainage around the house is not draining properly and consequently has to take up all the old concrete around the perimeter of the house and pour new concrete that slopes properly. The two large enourmous trees in the front yard are dying and consequently are dangerious (no, don't want them landing on the neighbors house) so they have to be removed. The fence is beyond repair so a new one has to be built.

Rave: This contractor is reliable, pleasant, licensed, insured and has a great bunch of employees.

Rave: Once this work is done it will be done! LOL.

Rant: The contractor will probably be able to take a geat trip before I do, thanks to what I will be paying him!

Rave: Meeting some Fodorites tomorrow evening for dinner. That will be fun and I am looking forward to it.

Rant: I was invited to also spend the day with them in the wine country but had to decline as need to stay in my town as the contractor is working on the house tomorrow and I may be needed to make decisions, answer questions etc.

Rave: Older grandson has come out of his shell and acting like the truly great fellow he is. It does happen, so all of you with difficult teens out there, don't give up!

Rant: Creeps like PM employee had to deal with.

Rave: The creep is in big trouble I would imagine.

Rant: Teens that beat a little fellow senseless. That is a horrible story. Can't think of any rave regarding that situation.

Rave: Scarlett and Yankees 200th wedding anniversary. Happy Anniversary dear ones

Rant: All the crime in the city where I had my business. Murders and beating are an every day occurence this year including a bad crime situation by the Vallejo/SF Ferry Bldg, sigh.

Rave: I sold my business and all my properties there so at least I don't have to go there..well unless I want to take the ferry to SF.

Rant: All the broken bones..wishes everyone heals in a hurry and there are no problems in the future.

Rave: All the beautiful people on Fodor's that have become truly good friends and are offer me good advice and take an interest in how my life is going. Your care and concern is truly appreciated and cherished more then you will ever know.

Rant: Nothing serious really. Life is good.

Happy weekend to everyone. Blessings to all of you.

Rant: Broken bones! Jocelyn, glad to hear your son is a trooper! BuffaloGirl, there have got to be easier ways to get out of doing housework!! Wishing you a quick recovery!

Rave: Fodor pals who show kindness.

Rave: We had a nice family dinner last Saturday in the Village. I really like my oldest son's girlfriend. Independent and smart.

Bonnie, you haven't been around lately. I hope you are well.

CAPH, just wanted to say "Hi!" Your daughter will be home soon for Thanksgiving, right?

PM, that plumber is a big loser!

200 years? Wow! Have a great anniversary, Scarlett.

Happy weekend, everyone.

Rave- Weekend is here.

Rant- Crazy parents. Had a VERY bizarre week with parent issues at school. Fortunately I was not involved in any of the issues but nonetheless it boggles my mind sometimes what people are willing to do.

Rave-The amazing parents that were able to save a teaching position at our school through DONATIONS.

The PTO worked tirelessly and parents wrote out checks to cover the salary of a foreign language teacher although we have lost numerous other things including after school busses and the librarian. Yikes, what next?

Hi, STW. Actually, she's not coming home for Thanksgiving. We decided that it just doesn't make sense as it's so close to Christmas break. Last year it was only nine days between flying back to school after Thanksgiving and then home again for Christmas. It's just too expensive to justify.

That's why we were so happy that she wound up with a 10 day break in October. That was long enough to be worth flying home. And just about midway between the beginning of the school year and Christmas break.

It'll be very odd and sad not to have her here for Thanksgiving though! But she doesn't seem to be too worried about not being here. There are lots of students who are in the same boat she is. And she said it'll give her a chance to get her end of semester work done!

And we'll have much to be thankful for this Thansgiving as my husband is scheduled for his last chemo the day after. He's also scheduled to work that day! But that'll all get worked out, I'm sure.

Anyway, thanks for asking! I'm sure you're looking forward to having your two home for Thanksgiving!

Happy Anniversary, Scarlett!

RAVE: Fodor's is back up and some of the problems seem to be fixed!

RANT: I still can't get on from aol. Thank goodness for IE!

RAVE: I wore shorts to work today. Pushing it a little I know as it only got into the high sixties. But it gets hot in the lunch room when you're running around opening milks, settling arguements (no spell check on IE!) and just generally working very hard to get first and second graders in and out in twenty minutes! And I want to hang on to the remanants of summer for as long as I possibly can!

RANT: This'll probably be the last time I can wear them until spring. But I can't really complain about that on November 4th now can I?!

Good thoughts out to all those with broken bones.

Have a great weekend, Fodorites!
