Scarlett et al.: They shut down the funny fodor's grammar post or I would post a reply there. I was totally kidding about the hyphens! Anyone who knows my posts will know that I use hyphens inappropriately all the time on here (along w/inverting letters when I type and not cleaning them up before I post). I inheirted this from my mother who is a German immigrant (and TRAVELED by boat before WWII to get in through Ellis Island) and for some reason she learned to use hyphens too much when she learned to write in English. Somehow this has gotten passed on to me. I used to fight it, but now just let them rip in emails and informal writing. I was kidding to the extent that I even put hyphens in my post asking people not to use hyphens. Sigh.

Thank you to all who wished me a happy birthday. And thank you emd for your poem. I hope the others had a happy birthday as well.
Now I have to mow that pesky lawn again which I can not keep up with. Anyone heard of the Paint the Bridge routine?

Rave: I made $75.00 between 9:00 and 11:00 a.m. during my yard sale (I closed down at 11:30). It may not seem like a lot of money to some of you, but it's going directly into my vacation jar for Cape Cod this August.
Rave: My wonderful, respectful, loveable 12 year old boy helped me (and his grandmother) set up and take down the yard sale stuff. God, I love that kid.
Rant: How could I, when I made $$$ today and my kid helped me do it!!!
Have a great Sunday everyone!

jor: you and your lawn have a funny relationship (love/hate?); you post on fridays about it and it has a life of its own now. Inquiring minds want to know: do you have an old fashioned push lawnmower w/the rotating blades, or a self-propelled mower, or do you TRAVEL in style on a riding mower?
I noticed you gave yourself a break and waited til the day AFTER your birthday to mow.

My lawn is about three acres and I have to go around many trees and buildings. I definately have a riding lawn mower, with most of the bells and whistles. I don't think the bumper sticker would be seen by anyone! Today the lawn looks so great. I wish I could press the save button on my keyboard and it would stay this way all year.

Our lawn looked like yours Friday afternoon. Smooth, not a pinecone or twig to be seen.
Then around 5pm we got hit with a big thunderstorm.
Branches, pine needles, pine cones, and a fence fell, all in my yard
jor, wanna come drive your mower over here ?

jor: I better hurry as Freaky Frrday is almost officially over, another few hrs. and it is Monday. But I must say that with three nicely groomed acres in Minnesota, I now understand what those hippies were thinking when they took over your tent in the yard. They were squatting, taking up residence, and hoping to get a little piece of your manicured land in the long run. You should have gotten on the riding TRAVELING lawn mower and buzzed them, doing cirles and donuts around the tent, twirling a lasso over your head while wearing a small toga at most. That would have gotten rid of them, and you could have been mowing that darn yard in the process.
Happy travels.

Rave: My oldest granddaughter turned 3 on Thursday and celebrated with a party at Chuckie Cheese today. I love my grandkids -- they are so adorable!
Rave: I still can't believe what happened yesterday. I took my son and his friend to Dallas for a concert, and had time to kill from 3 until 7. I decided to make the 1-hr. drive to WinStar Casino in Oklahoma, eat at the buffet and gamble a little.
The rain poured all the way there and the drive took a hour and 40 minutes. I figured I only had 45 min. to spend at the casino. Spent the first 20 min. eating. I walked into the casino and promptly lost $20. Moved to another slot and put in $20. FIVE minutes later, I cashed out with $448 and left! Made it back to Dallas at ten minutes until 7:00. The kids loved the concert, and I smiled all the way home!
