Awww, Tiff. You're sweet.

Sure you can email me. There is a website for the AMA but the minimum online donation is $25! I don't know why it is set up that way. That's a large amount for some people to part with. The MS150 (bike ride to benefit national ms society) allowed smaller increments.

Anywho, sure. Email me!

Ok, now, where was I?

LoriNY ~ I am sorry about your back, hang in there.

Patrick ~ Continued sympathy for you sweetie. Glad you made it Chicago. Electricity and water are good, if you are up to it, so is some of the fine Chicago dining! A hug to you.

Rave ~ Go Sox! Waaahhhhhooooooo!

Rave ~ Go Sir Paul, you still rock!

Rave ~ Was able to pre-assign our airline seats for our outbound Italy flight...

Rave ~ ...You know what that means, we are inside the 90 day bracket for departure, baby!

Mini Rant ~ NWA changed our nice Airbus with the nice mini movie screen seats etc. to an old 9hopefully not rickety DC-10.

Major Rave ~ I don't care about the DC-10, I am going to bella Italy for 11 days with the man I love! Yipppeeeee!

Still thinking of everyone affected by Katrina, Rita, and Wilma.

Thinking of all the little ones out there for this Halloween, be safe, sweeties, be safe.

Hugs to all.
Tiff

Patrick,
Glad you're making it our way still. Enjoy your stay and the weather is supposed to be gorgeous-mid 60s all next week so you won't be too freezing! Enjoy your theater visits and eat well while you're here. You deserve it after a rough go lately.

major rant: The landscape of the incredibly gorgeous beaches in Cancun have been drastically altered/eroded by Wilma. I am so saddd about that, and worried for all the people who make their living from the tourist trade in Cancun.

Rant: not connecting with Kal and Faina last weekend in San Francisco.

Rave: watching my wife and 15,000 others crossing the finish line at the Nike Women's Marathon.

And a second to PamSF's "just because" rave.

Caph,
My mom got out of the hospital on Monday. She had surgery on 9/1 and has had many complications since. She has fluid in her lungs that just won't go away and they hospitalized her for pneumonia although for some reason they can't confirm if she has it. They were also testing for a pulmonary embolism and that's all I needed to hear. It just sent me over the edge. They have since ruled that out but still doesn't make me feel any better. I just wish they would find why the fluid won't dissipate.

The surgery she had was the gastric bypass (she didn't really need and I can't believe she was approved for it). While I think it's a necessity for some people, please, please people think long and hard about it if you or someone you know wants to have it. It's a huge stress on your body and your family! I really think it should only be allowed if it's a life or death situation.

Good morning to all from Victoria, BC!

Rave: my daughter and son-in-law are coming to visit this weekend. They live in California and when we were in Ontario we saw them only rarely. Now, it's a hop-skip-and-jump. Can't wait to show them our new home.

Rave: the new kitten is settling in well, despite one brief indiscretion at the back of our closet. Not sure why that happened because he's a pretty clean little guy, but we keep the door closed now just in case.

Rave: being retired! Time to bake, time to cook every day, time to enjoy every moment with my sweetie.

Rave: went to meet with some people yesterday re doing volunteer work at the local hospice. Seems my skills are much needed. Makes me feel GOOD!!

No rants today - just hugs for people whose lives have been disrupted lately, and anybody else who would like one.

Ethel, major hugs to you, as you have been throught such a tough time lately. I hope it all gets better soon.

Tiff, I think you should do the honors tonight. I'll look forward to the poison thread, with merlot in hand.

So you've interviewed with the ice sculptures too, huh Tiff? Let me give a better description just in case these are indeed the same people. It was a team of 2 that were interviewing me. The man had a low, raspy voice and spoke in a monotone. If he is dressing up for Halloween, he would make a perfect "Grim Reaper." The woman looked like a lunch lady in a suit, only she had a meaner look in her eyes. Are these the people you met??

Rave: It's not raining here! Boston area has been drenched and dreary for weeks!

Rant: They're saying snow tonight and tomorrow night and rain during the day tomorrow. Yuck! My lawn is so overgrown from all of the precip!

Rave: 2 weeks before we leave for Arizona.

Rant: Local school cancelling "Halloween" parties/activities due to some parent's complaining it makes their kids "uncomfortable" due to their religious beliefs. What's next? Will we have to give up Thanksgiving? We shouldn't have to give up the traditions that our country is accustomed to. If I move to another country I wouldn't expect them to give up their traditions to accomodate me because I'm "uncomfortable". I'm off my soapbox now.

Have a great weekend all.

P_M ~ "My" people were most definitely directly related to "your" people, cousin to the grim reaper if you will, lol.

It would be my pleasure to start Statia's 'poison' thread tonight, an honor indeed.

Sam ~ No Halloweenie for the kidlets makes me sad, too.

I'm definitely with Sam and Tiff on having to abandon American traditions. You don't feel comfortable? Then stay home.

Rant - US Air changed my departure time on our December NOLA flight from 9:50am to 7:00am. Rave - US Air finally let me take the flights to NOLA as a credit so I can schedule at a more appropriate time w/no change fee.

ethel, thanks for telling us about your mom's surgery. I think it's important to put that message out there. As you said, there are times when surgery like that can be a godsend. But it shouldn't be gone into lightly. And hearing of the things that can go wrong from someone we "know" is the best reminder of that.

I hope they're able to find the cause of the fluid soon and treat it. Keep us posted. And try to relax and have a good weekend. Easier said than done, I know.
