happy friday all!!!

Rave: Finally a weekend with no rain!!! Can get some stuff done outside for a change

Rave: I am in my 4th straight day in the past 4 weeks of no lower back pain. Never experienced anything like it before, and hope to never again. My PT worked wonders, the muscle relaxers the docs had me on at first did nothing. Keeping my fingers crossed that I am on the road to recovery.

Rave: I found this great website called ucomics.com. Has all the daily comics strips, but the best is they run all the old Calvin and Hobbes strips. I just loved that one!

Rant: Layoffs to be announced next week, tough to work when it is looming.

Have a great weekend

Rant: We lost 2 windows in the hurricane, roof tiles, all gardens, etc. Neighborhood will be without power for about 30 days. Afraid everything will mold without A/C.

Rave: We left for our New England home a few hours b4 Wilma came and we're safe

Rant: Delta is closing Song. Love that airline. Hate all the "hub" stops on others.

Rant: HURRICANES!!!

Rant: Businesses that cover their fronts with plywood for hurricanes then in spray paint write OPEN all over them, even thought they are closing. I did a couple big turn arounds when I saw a drug store and also Starbucks with giant OPEN emblazoned across their plywood, but when I got over there, they were of course closed. What are they thinking when they permanently write OPEN?

Rave: The incredible number of people out immediately after the hurricane clearing, cleaning, and attempting whatever they could to get things back to normal. And the spirit of togetherness everyone has.

Rant: Florida drivers. It's immediately announced and should be known anyway that when traffic lights aren't working, the intersection should be treated as a four way stop. But many drivers just race through those interesections as if nothing were wrong.

Rant: City governments that issue hurricane re-entry stickers and then plead with everyone to evacuate, then refuse to let anyone back after the storm even if they have the re-entry stickers. Even when we already have a report that the roads are clear and there are no down lines near our houses, they refuse to let people return and can't tell them when they will. What's more there isn't even a number to call to find out if and when they can. And they wonder why so many people "learn" NOT to evacuate.

RAVE: Being able to get away from all that mess and relaxing in Chicago for a week. I may be freezing, but at least I have electricity and water!

Delta is closing Song?????????

Thus spake the Wall Street Journal.

Rave: Thus spake Bronxzilla: active hyperlinks are coming in the "next iteration" of Travel Talk. So you can get screaming monsters without having to copy and paste Dutch website urls.

No rants, but hey, it's not even 7 am on the west coast. Plenty of time yet.

Local news said Song was shutting down. Just found another story that said Delta is "merging" Song into main Delta. Song is accepting reservations until May. Wonder what "merge" means? Hopefully, some other airline will start up to give Jet Blue some competition so the prices won't skyrocket (no pun!!).

Patrick, we tried those re-entry stickers about 12 years ago and they were a joke.

Never saw them again.

Rave: Heading to NYC next week to see my first opera. Just realized we'll be there during the marathon. We'll be rooting for you GoTravel.

Rant: I'm struggling to keep up with work, kids and the house. I've been a working mom for 13 years but this is the first time I'm feeling overwhelmed.

Rant: Two major projects at work are on a collision course and I'm afraid I'll be caught up in the wreck.

I hope everyone is doing well.

Rave: Good friends coming from out of state for the weekend!
Rave: Taking them to Pier W in Cleveland for Sunday brunch. Pier W is built out over a cliff in Lake Erie and has great reviews.

Happy Anniversary travelinwifey!
Thanks for the car ad 8-x

Ethel Hope your Mom is better.

P.M. The right job interview is just around the corner.
We also ran into a free dinner night at a new restaurant a few years ago. What a treat.

Have a good weekend everyone.

Rant/Rave: Back from wonderful trip to Paris and Prague.

Rant: Leaves, acorns, hickory nuts, walnuts make dangerous walking for the unwary on our driveway. They are falling faster than we can rake.

Rave: Grandchildren and neighborhood kids all excited about Halloween!

Yummy treats and funny tricks to all.

Happy halloween everyone!

Have a spooky night

Rant/Rave: I'm going to a dinner party Halloween night and have to come up with a costume idea. I have no idea what to wear.

Rant: ncdad is under the weather. He'll be fine but since he's slowing down it will probably take more time than I want it too.

GoTravel: Can you wear a 'GoTravel' sign so we can recognize you when you win the NYC marathon?

Had wind from Wilma but nothing came down at my home. It was very brisk and Durham was nowhere near the storm.

Rave - (forgot this one earlier) My daughter's violin teacher will be auditioning for the Boston Symphony Orchestra on Monday. She is a wonderful person and has worked very very hard to get to this level and I'm hoping it works out for her (even though it may mean we have to search for a new teacher). There was an article in the Boston Globe Magazine a few months ago about how grueling it can be to audition.

Rave: more fabulous weather (but a small cold is keeping me indoors a bit).

Rant: the time change on Sunday. Darkness comes way too early for me.

Rant/Rave: spouse off to Atlanta for a few days of business. I'll miss him but have some home projects planned. And a friend has loaned the "I, Claudius" DVD series.

Rave: owning 2 silk Halloween scarves! Orange with candy corns today; white with candy and pumpkins on Monday.

Rave: hearing about things reopening after Katrina.

Hope all is well with fellow Fodorites.

Happy Friday!!

Rave: Last week's Fodorite GTG here in NJ was a huge success!

Rave: Tomorrow is our big N'Awlins theme Halloween Bash! 80 Friends + 24 Dozen beads + Masks, Boas & Hats + lots of delicious Jambalaya, Etoufee, Red Beans & Rice, Mufalattas, King Cakes, Pecan tarts... Looking forward to a great party!

Rave: 8-X DH made awesome decorations & is a huge help with party preparations.

Rave: Because I'm busy cooking for the party I got to hire someone to clean my house!

Rave: Added 2 "new to us" cars to the Patricco Garage last week. That makes 7! Anybody want to buy a couple old (but well cared for) Volvo wagons?

Rave: Found out my favorite band is playing locally next Friday night & tickets were still available!

Rave: The you know you've been a Fodorite too long... thread.

R5 - I'll second that Kal Rave!

Rant: Close friend's grandmother is very ill.

Have a great weekend everyone! Trish
