Rave: after a week of our ears being clogged the drilling next door. It has stopped , at least til after the democratic convention here.
Rant, They have removed the waste baskets, stuff all over streets and removed those boxes on street corners that hold newspapers and the freebie, What's doing in Boston, magazines, dure to the possibility of bomb threats.
We will be searched on the subway, streets blocked all to accomadate the convention. Those who can afford it or have a weekend place have left town. It was so quiet downtown, soon the deluge!

Rant: United Airlines raised their fares (to BKK) without telling me in advance. Again!

Rave: I stumbled across a pretty good deal at travelocity. Found an air + 3 nites hotel package to Buenos Aires for less than the current price of the air only. Yo tengo tango. And it was not a ppdo price.

Happy non-political Friday! Thanks Cassandra!!

Rave: Spend whole afternoon helping in-laws finalize finish selections for their retirement home, soon to be built. It was WORK, but they are so happy, and I was glad to help (I'm an interior designer, so was elected).

Rant: It's going to be a rainy weekend in NJ (and my DH is away on a boys camping trip - ha ha!)

Rave: With all this rain I don't have to water my new landscaping!

Happy Weekend everyone!

Raves all the way today:

Rave: After days of anxious waiting, it was finally cool enough for the airlines to allow our new 8 week old basset puppy to fly into Denver from her breeder in California. Maggie has the sweetest face in the world and the four of us are already firmly wrapped around her puppy paws. You know you're hooked when puppy breath smells sweet.

Rave: Our 15 year old son volunteered to take the first night 'middle-of-the-night-take-puppy-potty' shift.

Rave: It's rained two days in a row in western Nebraska--an immense blessing for which our parched end of the state is grateful.

tess and others, I wish I could send our rain to you. My tiny garden is a disaster, all the money spent wasted, drowned by rain, and eaten by slugs. I can't afford to replace anything this year.

Rave: Our vacation to Seattle was great! 17 rolls of pictures turned out pretty good, too. Maybe, before next year's "big trip", I'll break down and buy that Canon digital Rebel everyone is talking about. Kids enjoyed the vacation, too. We love you, Seattle! (Except for the driving.)

Rant: Daughter went out the day after our trip and got her eyebrow pierced.

Rave: Two more weeks, and I have another week off from work. Not going anywhere this time, tho, will just stay home and work.

Rant: Temp is right at 100, and our central AC is out too. (I sympathize with you, antlori.) Repairman coming in 3 days. Please let it rain! I'd rather have the slugs, than be melting in this heat. Cigalechanta, how big are the slugs where you live? Here, in Texas, they creep into the garage, and lie in the cats' food dishes, and they are HUGE! Some are the size of my largest finger. When I first started seeing them, I thought the cats had pooped in their dish!

Donna

Rave: feed those slugs flour and a tiny bit of water for three or four days and they'll be great "escargot" with some butter and garlic.

Tess! Please post a photo -- a bassett lover from way back, although sadly none in the house any more. What will you name the puppy?

I forgot to mention that the reason you must feed the slugs flour for several days is to "purge" the toxic heavy metal pesticides you have been using - get a cock a doodle do for organic treatment.

Rave:Friday was consumed with post remodel houseclean. Saturday is wide open and will include a trip to the neighborhood movie house for "The Clearing".
Rave: I live in a state where being a "girlie man" is really a compliment only Arnie doesn't know it!

Rave: next week is a short one and includes a four day trip to Portland with friends who are family.

Rant: I live in a state where to be a "girlie man" is really a compliment only Arnie doesn't know it.

Cassandra,

Will do as soon as the little darling takes a nap. Her name is Maggie and I can already tell that she'll add so much to our family. Love those floppy ears--they're so long that she trips over them!
