Yup Dayenu, That's exactly what I was picturing.

Don't you think this thread belongs in "The Lounge"? It's not really about travel or about New York.

Putting on flip-flops is dressing up as far as I'm concerned.

<---works at home, in a really hot climate

Suze, yes, I'm surprised too - maybe we don't have a "hall monitor" today?

Giovanna,Sssy, and Suze - are you all being a bit flippant with my OP? I realize my comments might be considered a -- flop. Anyway - I give up. But first - I'm getting a pedicure.

Did I incorrectly assume this was a joke-type thread? Those usually go in the Lounge forum. No I was not being one bit flippant.

Suze - I would merely say that one need not make a big flap over a flip flop. But you are right - flip flops do belong in a lounge.

Sydney is the same but we're a beach city so flip flops (with jeans, with dresses, with skirts etc) is a summer necessity...it does look Odd in the middle of the city area though...
im coming to NYC in sEpt (11-25th) and was told its not really the right time for sandal wearing?! is this right?

I think this thread IS about travel. One of the local TV news stations did a piece (NBC?PIX?) about getting mersa from wearing flip flops.

I'm fascinated when visitors ask me if NYC is safe and they are wearing high heel flip flops. None of the flip flops are shoes for the kind of walking done in NYC and none of them enable you to run for a bus.

I wear flat sandals all the time that have a back and ankle strap that keep the shoes on my feet. I wish I could wear these on the buses but they won't allow the guides to wear open toed shoes. (Mostly because they are afraid of employees getting hurt going up and down stairs in flip flops.

Well, I was being flippant but I didn't flip flop like you, jroth. At first you sounded like you were in a flap about flip flops and then you told suze not to do likewise.

I think a pedicure is a good idea and then put on your flip flops to show it off.
