Curious -- You asked about inexpensive Tuscan reds -- try these, all of which are in the $10 and under range:

Il Marrucino Montepulciano d'Abruzzo, 1998

Censio Chianti 1999

Cantina del Montalcino Sangiovese

And for a splurge, Poderuccio Toscana 1998 (around $20 or so).

There is a great website for finding moderately priced wines: www.bestcellars.com (they have a shop here in DC, also in New York and maybe some other places -- most of their wines are under $10-15).

Arabella: Since you like Robert Mitchum, have you ever seen the movie "Night of the Hunter"? It's one of my favorites -- he was so good in it and so scary!
I have not tried the Healthy Choice mint chocolate chip, but I'll give it a shot since you suggested it!

Lisa,

I bought a copy of "Night Of The Hunter" a few years ago. It's such an odd movie -- beautiful as a dream and scary as a nightmare. Glad you reminded me of it -- haven't watched it in a while.

Hi Everyone:

I'm a 36-year old female. I live in Pittsburgh, PA and work full-time for a hospital in the Univ. of Pgh. area. I enjoy travel and hearing about it, although I don't have much time off to do it. I'm a part-time student who is trying to get my RN degree by the time I'm 39.

The only problem I have w/responses here is the bashing of working and stay-home moms. There are bonuses of each and nobody has an easy ride. Most stay at home moms have to do without alot of extra money as compared to working moms. Working moms have alot of guilt when they go to work as well as being very tired at the end of the day.

Unlike others, my e-mail is real. Keep on posting!!!!

I am really starting to think that hardened criminals in prison are accessing this site from some of the threads I have seen...

Actually, Curious, I have no real qualms about using my name ... I've done it extensively on Fodors' Europe and Africa boards, including my actual e-mail address ... and lived to tell about it. The loonies who post here are all talk ... nothing to worry about. Ciao, Joseph

OK, I'll bite.

Where - DC(work), Northern VA(live)

Age - 32

Status - living in sin (as mom would say)

Occupation - federal grants administrator

Likes - travel (go figure), debating politics, hiking, reading the Post, warm weather, beautiful places, IU basketball, snorkeling, fresh bagels, cheesecake, running (not unrelated to the cheesecake thing), "West Wing" (my new favorite show), cheesy made-for-TV movies (when no one else is looking)

Dislikes - traffic jams, long hours, government salaries, scraping my windshield in the winter, fried eggs (ugh!), boorish men who complain that their "stewardesses" aren't young and attractive enough, cigarette smoke, expensive hotels that nickel and dime you, long cross-country flights in the middle seat, people who bash government workers indiscriminately but would never consider sacrificing their corporate salaries for a job in public service

Here's an example freewoman. I used a real e-mail address a few months ago when inquiring about a vacation house on this site (another forum). Ever since, I've received pornographic e-mails at least once a day. My 9 year old son was sitting in front of the computer, opened an e-mail and low and behold, full frontal graphic nudity. Need I say more? You never know what kind of nutcases get their jolly's from sending you this garbage. Coincidence? I don't think so.

Also, many people here know when you are on vacation, how long you're going, and in what city you live, etc. Do you think it wise if we divulge our real names, as Leone suggested? Hey everyone, head on over to Leone's house while he's in Paris. I'm sure he has lovely things in his home! It's nice to be trusting but having been robbed, I feel it's wiser not to let anyone know who you are.

I'm sure 99%of us are normal, law-abiding citizens, but it's the other 1% you have to worry about. There are cases every day of internet wacko's.

Curious, you make a powerful case for not using real addresses ... I am shocked that you receive smut ... that is horrible!! Yep, I suppose I don't want anyone stopping over while I'm in Paris ... even if it's only to say hello to Max and Leon (they may meow in return). So, I shall for the time being only provide a joint sign-off - L/Joseph ... a toe at a time in the cyber water. Have a good holiday and fab 2002!!! Ciao, of course.

I have always used my full real name and email address in this forum but have taken to adding the "nospamtome" into the header. It's probably too late... I now receive 6 - 20 pieces of spam per day from every imaginable source. Ther are specialized automated software programs that mass emailers use to automatically cull email adresses from Internet forums such as this and add them to their mailing lists. Once your address is collected and sold the spam increases geometrically. I'm now almost at the point where I will change my email address to lessen the aggravation.

Owen, I was the same way, posted my E-mail address, used my name but never got any obscene, pornographic or spam mail ever. This one jerk, who is still here, cause me to leave this message board. If that had happen in AOL, they would be removed. They continue to harass this forum to no end! I have been posting here for a long time but never will use my name or E-mail address again. I even had a lot of posters E-mailed me for more information which I gave & they inturn thank me for making there vacation more enjoyable. A lot of them E-mailed me back to say what fun they really had & for all the help they had gotten. You are a great asset to this forum, please continue your thoughtful help.
