flood update in Kauai?

Anyone in Kauai or very recent to comment on the happenings with the flooding etc. We dont leave for 2 weeks but not sure if all will subside by the time we go. 1st timers to the island so very dissapointing to hear. We are staying in Poipu but really want to go to Hanalei and some of the parks. Any websites that are handy to reference on the progress?

It is rare when a road is closed for more than a day. Most of the time it is several hours. No worries.

This is Kauai's main newspaper:

Don't be put off by the weather forecasts either. Many times the Garden Island paper shows sun/cloud/showers daily. Small island can have a variety of weather patterns, the rainfall can be brief or at night. You can usually find good weather somewhere.

We've visited in Nov/Dec many times and stayed in Poipu and the East shore, and we still enjoyed the north... had great weather at Anini, dined outside in Hanalei etc. Personally, I've found March weather to be riskier.

Have a great time!

I am in Kauai now. Everything is fine. There is some road work being done on the the way to Hanalei and Anini Beach. You may sit in traffic for a while but it is not that bad. The weather has been nice and cool. For the most part, other than Thanksgiving Day we have had a few sprinkles. The weather here is funny. If it is raining, travel 10 minutes and you will be in sunshine. If you would like some info on what to do, see and where to eat I would be more than happy to help you out. I own a condo on this magnificent island and have been coming here for 10 years.

to OP: Plan your visit to the North Shore for Saturday or Sunday if possible. Ongoing tree-trimming is causing most of the traffic delays, and that work ceases on the weekend.
