Flight from Newark instead of Philly, would you do this??
My husband and I are planning a trip to Jamaica, possibly Thanksgiving week, and I have been checking the airfares and noticed that they are about $200.00 cheaper right now from Newark to Montego bay, instead of Philly to MB, flying AirJamaica or Delta. Would it be worth the trip to Newark from Philly, or should we just wait and see if the prices come down from Philly airport to Jamaica??
Thanks

I would be leary of Air Jamaica. A friend of mine had a horrible experience with them (return flight to Newark from Jamaica). Essentially the airline didn't honor any of the full flight's passenger tickets; refused to acknowledge their responsibilities at all. They were held at the airport for days before Continental Airlines finally took pity and flew them home. If Delta is an option, go with them. Regarding Philly vs. Newark, if it's convenient and switching airports doesn't incur any other expenses (ie. hotel stay) then, to save $200 pp, I would switch. In my experience, airfares go up over time, not down.

I just checked the fares from EWR and PHL to MBJ for a flight 11/12/05 to 11/19/05. And indeed, the fares from PHL were $200 higher.
It takes me about 50 minutes to get to PHL, and 1 3/4 hr to get to EWR. We have gone many times to EWR, mostly for Continental flights. $200 would make me go to EWR, as the parking is about the same cost. But if the flight is very early, that would mean getting up at 4-5AM, or getting a hotel near EWR, which might deter me.
I think that in your case, it also depends on how long it takes you to get to PHL and EWR.
I would also second the suggestion that it is too early to book a flight. I personally would wait until the fall.

Go to Newark its an easy drive. Remember flights book in blocks, so the earlier you get seats the better. I agree with the others, theyre will be other deals out there later. Theyre acting on youre excitement at the moment, so they can ask for top$. Just wait.
