Flight/car for Honolulu?
Hello,we are going to be in Maui in a couple weeks and want to go to Pearl Harbor. I looked at flights and they are around $153 a person round-trip and a rental car is $87 for one day. Is this the best route to go and does anybody have any other suggestions. Also is it that hard to get around the island. Please let me know thanks Randy

Keep checking on the cars. You can often find one for less than $40/day. Check sites like Kayak.com or the actual rental sites.
Also, get your Arizona Memorial tickets in advance online. They often run out of the walkup slots early in the morning.
After you see the memorial, you could go to Bishop Museum (Kalihi area), Iolani Palace (downtown), or head to the North Shore and do a clockwise drive around the island back to the airport.

This is what I would do, just to see the beauty of Oahu. Head to Haleiwa and the North Shore beaches from Pearl Harbor, then drive across the spectacular H2/H3 (lcuy, which part is the gorgeous part?) to Kailua, then Waikiki and back to the airport. That will make for a very long day, but worth it!

If you're going in a couple of weeks, you need to make Pearl Harbor reservations ASAP at this site: http://www.recreation.gov/showPage.d...O&parkId=72369

If you don't start your Pearl Harbor visit until 11 a.m., seeing other parts of the island will be very difficult! (not saying not to do that, just don't expect to also do the drive I suggested - although you should have time to just go to the north shore and back).
